About the photographer
Wim Kosten
He was born and raised in the province of Zeeland near the Westerschelde and at a very young age his father (who started maritime photography way back in 1959) took him to the seaside and later aboard. He grew an interest in shipping, especially towage, salvage and offshore and started photographing ships near the ports of Vlissingen, Terneuzen and Antwerp in 1987.
Although in the IT business for the past 30+ years he still has a strong passion for the sea and shipping and developed a keen eye for details and quality photographs. With his father (who’s still active despite his high age) he started maritimephoto.com in 2007. Always in for a different view they started photographing from boats, cranebaskets and planes and in 2016 the drone adventures started. With a couple of hundred flights in the passed years, Wim is an experienced (and certified) drone pilot.
And now his son Krys (who’s attending the nautical college at Vlissingen) occassionaly joins his father on a photoshoot. Three generations with over 65 years of maritime photography.
